Manifesto of The Canine Rescue Team of Ottawa
"A manifesto is a public declaration of principles and intentions".
This, then, is the Manifesto of The Canine Rescue Team: We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to canine rescue, rehabilitation and placement. We are committed to helping these abused, neglected and abandoned dogs, that have been left in high-kill shelters to die, find their loving forever homes. In and around Ottawa, Ontario, Canada we will:
- Establish a network of committed volunteers to address the needs of as many dogs as we can.
- Follow a set of strict procedures, guidelines and documentation for the processing and approval of Foster, Adoption and Other Volunteer Applications.
- Establish a solid, loved and respected base of approved foster homes for our rescued dogs.
- Partner with a reliable Transport Network to move the rescued dogs from their shelters to their Foster Homes.
- Foster a drama-free, stress-free environment of mutual respect among our volunteers, fosters, adopters and other rescue organizations and supporters.
We will rescue:
- Adoptable dogs of any breed legal to our area from high-kill shelters at any reasonable distance that our Transport Network can reach within the limits of our Foster Home capabilities.
Once we rescue a dog, we will:
- Always ensure that the dogs placed with our fosters are FULLY vetted, UTD shots, spayed or neutered and heartworm tested/treated.
- Always keep the dog in foster for NOT LESS THAN 10 days to properly evaluate the dog.
- NEVER adopt-out an intact dog under any circumstances to anyone.
- Wherever possible or required, provide veterinary care, food, crates, toys, collars and leashes to our Foster Homes.
- Provide full support to our Foster Families.
Once we adopt-out a dog, we will:
- Honour our refund policy.
- Fully and passionately enforce our Adoption Contracts.
- Provide full support, guidance and assistance to our adoptive families.
Thank you for your support and for loving the dogs as much as we do-have a look at our website, and if you or anyone you know would like to foster or adopt, please do not hesitate contact us.
